Meet Cristala Carter

Cristala Carter was born and raised in Oakland, California. A serious passion and talent for performing was evident at a very early age, beginning with singing in the church choir and performing in grade school plays. Even then, telling a story under the lights felt like home. Further creative pursuits ranged from performance poetry and dance, to creative and expository writing all the way through college, Notre Dame de Namur University. It was there that it became clear that acting was to be her primary creative focus. She graduated with honors degrees in theater and communication.

Following college, Cristala worked in business management and client services, where she developed a reputation for exceptional communication and customer service, but studied acting on nights and weekends, and never stopped dreaming of a professional acting career.

In 2007 Cristala bought a one-way ticket, and made the leap from “The Bay” to “The Big Apple.” It turned out the be the best decision she ever made! It wasn’t long before Cristala built a thriving commercial career, working steadily in national and regional on camera, print and voice over advertising. She has loaned her talents to brands such as: Yoplait, Coca~Cola, Target, Citi Bank, McDonald’s, Luvs, The US Census, Humira, Triscuit, Wells Fargo, The US Army, and Dr Scholls to name a few, as well as numerous political campaigns.

Cristala is continuing to expand her horizons and is actively working in television, and seeking further opportunities in film and theatre. She can be seen in primetime on And Just Like That (HBO MAX), Dr. Death (NBC PEACOCK), FBI: Most Wanted (CBS), Law and Order: Organized Crime NBC), New Amsterdam (NBC), For Life (ABC), Inventing Anna (NETFLIX), Madam Secretary (CBS), The Blacklist (NBC), City on a Hill (SHO), Blue Bloods (CBS), Marvel’s Jessica Jones (NETFLIX), and more. Film credits include Follow Her, Silent Partner and UNTREATED.

When not on set, you’re likely to find Cristala enjoying a night out at the theatre or in the sketch comedy world, writing and performing at The People’s Improv Theatre. She prides herself on always seeking to grow forward in her craft, and is currently studying with legendary acting teacher, Anthony Abeson.
